Yogurt con Amor full of flavor and nutrition for children and special mothers continued full time even through the social/political crisis in Nicaragua, becasue of its spirit of overcoming obstacles in order to prevent malnourishment.
For our donor friends who have given their time and collaboration to the project, we tell them that Yogurt con Amor arrived in the jungle with the Animals in Danger of Extinction. What do Yogurt and the Endangered Animals have in common? Familias Especiales (FE) celebrated with joy and love their annual Fair in their park to raise awareness of Animals in Danger of Extinction especially in Nicaragua. Many special mothers with their children with disABILITIES and young people from different schools in Matagalpa were immersed in the jungle which was artistically created by young people with disABILITIES in the salon of the park. Using recycled materials, they depicted the different animals to show the reality that these animals are in danger of extinction and everyone needs to do something to try to change the situation. So Yogurt con Amor joined the celebration by designing the tops of their yogurt containers with a picture of each animal and created a promotion whereby any one can make a collection of the yogurt tops and share with their friends the story of these animals. This calls more attention to the needs of these animals and contributes to the nutrition of children as they enjoy the different fruit flavors.
While in the jungle at the fair, Yogurt Con Amor presented its new labels which are more colorful and distinctive. They also presented a new recipe for their granola. This gave everyone the opportunity to enjoy the delicious taste of fresh grains and nuts while learning more about the habitats of the animals in danger in their country because of lack of protection. Hopefully creating in the students the desire to take care of the natural environment and their health at the same time.
Yogurt Con Amor wanted to share this activity because it exemplifies their spirit, by not only working for better nutrition but by offering employment to people with disABILITIES. Several new staff members were hired during this period even though many other work places are laying off staff, because of the national crisis. This is a way of stating clearly that the only true disABILITY is attitude. By caring for their health, and always striving to give their best, the staff is strengthened and aware that their goal is to help other people with disABILITY so that they can achieve a dignified life in a pleasant work environment where every day one learns from each other.
