A Gift of Hope

By St Cyril Cancer Treatment Foundation | Project Officer

The St Cyril Cancer Treatment Foundation is deeply committed to changing the story of cervical cancer in Nigeria. Over the years, we have witnessed the devastating impact this disease has had on countless women, particularly those from indigent backgrounds who are unable to afford preventive care and treatment. Yet, we have also seen the incredible hope that arises when access to timely screening and immediate treatment is made available.

Through the $10 Monthly to Reduce Cervical Cancer Project, we have begun to bridge a critical gap in women’s healthcare. Unlike many existing programs that end at screening and leave women to struggle on their own, this initiative ensures that those diagnosed with early-stage cervical abnormalities receive immediate thermal coagulation treatment at the point of care. This means that instead of waiting, worrying, or being lost in a system they cannot afford, women are treated right away, giving them the chance to live free of cervical cancer.

With the support of our donors, we have already been able to provide both screening and life-saving treatment to indigent women across Nigeria. Each month, your $10 contributions have translated into hope and healing for women who would otherwise have had no chance. We have seen mothers who can now look forward to raising their children without the fear of cancer. We have seen women regain not just their health but also their dignity and peace of mind. These achievements would not have been possible without the generosity and trust of our supporters, and for this we are profoundly grateful.

But our work has only just begun. Cervical cancer continues to threaten the lives of thousands of women each year, and many remain unreached in rural and underserved communities. Our vision is to expand this project so that every woman, regardless of her financial circumstance, can access screening and treatment when she needs it most. With sustained support, we aim to provide cryotherapy and thermal coagulation treatment to at least 50 indigent women every month, and to scale this up over time to reach thousands more.

We know that $10 may seem like a small contribution, but when multiplied by the kindness of many, it becomes powerful enough to save lives. It is not just a donation, it is an investment in the health, survival, and future of women across Nigeria.

As we reflect on what we have achieved together, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all our donors whose generosity has given women the chance to live cancer-free. We invite you to continue this journey with us. Your monthly support ensures that no woman is left behind, that screening does not end in despair, and that treatment is not a privilege but a right accessible to all. With your help, we can eliminate cervical cancer as a cause of suffering and death in our communities.
