Swati, attends Awareness Camp:
An awareness camp was organised by Kancheepuram District Aids Control Society and a resident named Swati attended the same. She is 15 years old. It was a 3 day program wherein they focused on how Girl children should be more careful and bold to face the day to day difficulties coming in their lives. It was very informative camp and she got various tips and insights to deal with the challenges of life. She came and shared the same with the children and encouraged them to not get shattered with the problems but face it boldly.
Inculcating moral values:
Children are groomed in the way as they would be groomed in their own house. The staff ensures the residents are inculcated with right values in order to be good citizens. Attitude of serving, caring, loving is nurtured in them so that they are able to overcome their grief and help others laugh.
The home has a big open ground, wherein different fruit bearing trees like coconut, mango, guava, papaya to name a few are planted. The children take care of these trees. They water them at regular intervals and ensure they are growing well. Mango trees and Papaya trees are producing fruits also. Children are so happy to see the fruits and enjoy eating the same.
Experiencing Joy- in spreading Joy:
Mr. Balakumar and his team of friends from M/s. TVS Breaks India, Polambakkam village visited the home a few months back. They sponsored a special meal for the children while spending the time with them instantly a chord was struck between them and the children of the home. They wanted to do something very different which would make the children feel special. Hence came up with a plan of celebrating every child’s birthday by providing them a new dress as a birthday gift and cutting the cake. This team has been doing this for
the past 4 months. They come and celebrate the birthday exactly on the date when it falls and encourage other children to share about the child who is celebrating his/her birthday. This has made a great impact on the life of these children to know that they are loved.
