This summer, 10 girls from Arias Home of Hope went to their home for the summer vacation, while 6 girls remained at the Home. For many, it was an opportunity to reconnect with loved ones. For others, it was a reminder of the difficult circumstances that had brought them to Arias Home of Hope in the first place.
For "Prema,"(Name Changed) the holidays were filled with grief and uncertainty. Having lost her mother just eight months earlier, she returned home to learn that her father was preparing to remarry. Left alone for most of the day, she managed all the household chores while struggling to process her emotions. She returned to Arias' Home of Hope deeply distressed, saying that the Home is where she feels truly safe, cared for, and loved.
For "Kavilaya," (Name Changed) the vacation reopened emotional wounds caused by her parents' separation. Living with her grandmother, she missed her mother's care. She had to help with household work, and at times even went without meals. She returned emotionally exhausted, sharing that Arias Home of Hope is the one place where she never has to worry about food, care, or affection.
Not every story was difficult. "Kamini" ,"(Name Changed) enjoyed a joyful vacation with her mother and sister, spending quality time together, sharing meals, and creating happy memories. She returned refreshed and grateful for the time she had with her family.
Despite their different experiences, the girls shared one common feeling. They were happy to return to Arias Home of Hope. Here, they find stability, nutritious meals, education, friendships, and caring adults who encourage them to heal, grow, and dream.
While leaving the girls back at Arias Home, parents spoke warmly about the positive changes they had observed in their daughters. They described them as more disciplined, respectful, confident, responsible, and eager to help at home. One parent shared that the entire family had noticed her daughter's transformation, while another expressed pride in seeing her daughter read English confidently and take initiative in household responsibilities.
These reflections remind us that Arias Home of Hope is much more than a residential home. It is a place where vulnerable girls receive the care, guidance, education, and emotional support they need to overcome adversity and grow into confident, compassionate, and independent young women.
Your generosity makes this transformation possible. Thank you for giving these girls not only a safe place to live but a place they are proud to call home.
