Being a girl isn’t that easy. Being an orphan….there’s no telling. Mahalakshmi lost her father before she was born and when she was 10yrs., old, her mother died of HIV/AIDS. Mahalakshmi also got infected with HIV/AIDS.
Her grandparents and relatives stretched their helping hands to Mahalakshmi and her brother.
At the age of 13, she was very playful and not serious about her studies. Irrespective of the care given by the guardian, she couldn’t focus on building her life and discontinued her 10th std., studies
In 2018, her grandparents joined her in one of the homes with the hope that she would study well and learn to be obedient; but she was not happy in the home.
Mahalakshmi met with one of our staff during her visit to Tambaram TB hospital for her monthly medical check-up and sought help for shelter and care. She was counseled and then she was admitted to the home on 3rd October 2019.
Even as she is awaiting to enroll herself for completing her 10th std., she joined 3 months tailoring course and completed the same.
Mahalakshmi is a very happy 19-year-old girl and spent her time very productively by equipping herself with tailoring skills. On the other hand, she is also preparing to write upcoming 10th std., exams.
Each one of your support has enabled HOPE foundation to bring hope and change lives of 75+ children like “Mahalakshmi”.
