This quarter, we bring you news from the Community Care Centre of HOPE, Tirunelveli.
The community Care Centre is a home that started in 2006 and since then it has helped over 200+ children. It’s a one gender home and currently accommodates 16 boys. The home also supports 6 girls who stay out of the home premises separately, for as per the government rules, a child cannot continue to stay in an orphanage once he/she has attained the age of 18 years.
All the 6 girls that we provide support and care are orphans, who lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. These girls stay as a family but the centre in charge is completely responsible for their well being and continues to mentor and care for their immediate medical, psychological, spiritual needs etc. Out of the 6 girls, one is working while other 5 are studying in Higher Secondary School/College.
Abhisha aged 22, one amongst the 6 girls had joined the home at the age of 14 after having lost both of her parents. She too is HIV +ve. About two years back, in 2016 her Aunt took her to their home, but were unable to give proper care to her. Abisha became very sick and her CD4 count came down rapidly. Through one of our staff we came to know her condition and that she desired to come back to CCC. On readmission in CCC we came to know that she was affected with Chest Cancer and Tuberculosis. Back in CCC, she has undergone two major operations. She has recovered from it and studying in 2nd year (BA) . Her CD4 count has increased and her health has also improved. We give all thanks to you for providing us the timely help which has brought Abhisha back to life
Also, thanks to one and all for continued support to HOPE foundation in providing care and support to the children who are 18 years and above. Your support has helped them find their space in this world and also to stand on their own feet.
