Healthcare to HIV/AIDS Infected & Affected Orphans

At the 3 orphanages run/supported by HOPE foundation, equal care is given towards all the aspects of growth and development. Children of all the three homes are given an opportunity to learn beyond their academic curriculum to be better informed and knowledgeable citizens. They are encouraged to participate in cultural programs be it at school or at home. Each and every child is given a responsibility to build their self-confidence, leadership qualities and remove the stage fear.

This year, the children of the home celebrated “Educational Development Day” in the honor of Kumaraswamy Kamaraj, popularly known as Kamaraj an Indian Independence activist and politician who served as the Chief Minister of Madras State then & now known as Tamil Nadu.  Also the children got to celebrate Independence Day, Children’s Day, Christmas etc., through 2022 and  New Year in 2023. 

Apart from the above, the staff in the orphanages made every effort to make the children feel very special by celebrating their birthdays.  The child is given a new dress, accessories on the special day and the special food of their choice is cooked and served for all the children on that day. 

 All the children look forward to celebrating these special days and leave no stone unturned to make it grand. These celebrations not only bring out the best in them but also fills them with a sense of happiness and contentment. It also gives them enough knowledge which help them to develop holistically for a better future.

HOPE foundation is working for the underprivileged and needy children through various programs since 1991. Health & care is one of the signature programs of HOPE that takes care of the abandoned, orphan, destitute and HIV/Aids infected and affected children through 3 Orphanages in Tamil Nadu.  Arias Home of HOPE, one of the three orphanages, completed 20 years of its service to the women and children living with HIV/AIDS and those affected because of HIV/AIDS.

This home was started in 2001 in Chennai after the felt need from the community. So far, HOPE has helped more than 500+ women and children. Provided them with good education, helped them to stand on their feet, got them married and also got them rehabilitated to become a member of the general community with respect and dignity.

The children who came at the age of 4 and 5 have grown and settled. Pavan (Name Changed) has become a Mechanical Engineer, Pushpa (Name Changed) completed her Tally, is working as an accountant. She is married and has a 3-year-old son. Reena (name changed) was given training in sewing course. Today she is rehabilitated back to her family and she takes of her old grandma.

This home was converted to all girls home in the year 2015 and since then it takes care of girls providing them safe and secure shelter, food, medicines, education, counselling and all that a child require to live healthy and grow healthy.

This home not only provides a safe abode to the girls but also has a dairy farm and a vegetable garden. The produce of these two farms is utilized in the home for the girls.
