With the global pandemic and national lockdown in India, we pivoted from our regular programs. We started making hand-sewn face masks and distributing them for free in villages in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Since April 2020, we have been providing 100,000 face masks/months. We are also distributing face masks in local public health care centres and hospitals, located in remote villages. Children are using our health lessons on 5-steps of handwashing, nutritional diet etc. to practice hygiene. Some of them are also teaching their friends in their communities. They are also encouraging their friends to wear a face mask, wash their hands with soap and maintain social distance.
