This project will empower women and girls in rural India at every stage of their lives by helping them access key facilities needed to lead a dignified life. These facilities have been identified as follows: 1. Access to hygienic period products and accurate menstrual hygiene information 2. Access to crucial health services and information, such as immunizations, screenings, and referrals 3. Access to sustainable livelihood and subsequent financial independence
Women and girls in rural India have diminished access to key facilities such as safe and hygienic period products, health services and resources, and livelihood opportunities. These realities, exacerbated by rampant stigma around women's health, trap them in cycles of gender-based poverty at every stage of their lives and affect their overall well-being. This project will lift them out of poverty by bridging access to the key facilities needed to lead a dignified life.
This project will bridge the gap between women and girls and the key facilities needed to lead a dignified life. Girls will receive menstrual hygiene awareness sessions and access to hygienic period products. Women and girls will be able to access health screenings, immunizations, and resources for issues such as anemia and cervical cancer. Lastly, women are trained in vocational & technical skills to gain meaningful livelihoods and financial independence.
Providing girls with menstrual health resources and hygienic period products will reduce school absenteeism rates and improve their educational and health outcomes. Access to health services such as screenings and immunizations will ensure timely diagnoses and treatment for diseases such as anemia, and lead to better nutrition and hygiene habits at home. Vocational trainings will not only enable women to upskill and gain financial independence, but also to open their own micro-enterprises.
