Health Camps for Children in Rural India

In villages across rural India, children continue to face significant challenges due to the lack of quality healthcare infrastructure, limited access to qualified medical professionals, and insufficient availability of basic medicines and medical facilities. These conditions profoundly impact their health, well-being, and overall development.

Through our Health and Hygiene programs, we are dedicated to addressing these challenges and improving the lives of children in targeted villages. Our initiatives, such as the Bal Health Mela, primary care services, dental care, vaccinations, and health awareness campaigns, allow children to access and afford essential healthcare services that are often out of reach for them.

In 2023 alone, we have substantially impacted the lives of individuals in rural communities. We have served over 102,098 adults and children through our health camps, check-ups, vaccinations, and provision of necessary medicines and healthcare services. Additionally, we have organized the Bal Health Mela, which has provided essential health and hygiene education to 3,713 children.

Over the past four months (from January to April), our targeted awareness camps have reached and positively impacted numerous individuals. We have conducted Eye Checkups and Awareness Camps, benefiting 1,121 individuals. Pediatric Checkup and Awareness Camps have reached 531 children, while Dental Checkup and Awareness Camps have served 648 individuals. Through Gynecology camps, we have provided care and support to 1,009 women. Also, our Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Camps have reached 65,839 individuals, spreading knowledge and promoting healthy practices.

Our health camps typically attract a significant number of beneficiaries, ranging from 500 to 2,000 people at a time. These events serve two primary objectives: providing necessary healthcare services and educating participants about preventive measures to foster positive behavior change and promote better health outcomes.

Additional funding will extend our health camps and hygiene efforts to the surrounding rural villages of the Marathwada region of Nanded and the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. By expanding our programs, we can provide essential healthcare services and education to more individuals in need, ultimately creating healthier communities.

Villages in rural India still suffer from the lack of quality healthcare infrastructure, a dearth of qualified medical functionaries, and low access to basic medicines and medical facilities. Our Health and Hygiene programs provide residents of targeted villages with the opportunity to access and afford health services through initiatives such as the Bal Health Mela, primary care, dental care, Gynec camp, eye care, and public health services.      

So far in 2023, we have already served more than 22,584 adults and children through our in-person health camps, check-ups, vaccinations, medicine, and other essential health services. To date, 15,500 children have attended our health camps. 

In the past three months (December-January), we have impacted 2,050 through Eye Checkup and Awareness Camps, 1,044 through Pediatric Checkup and Awareness Camps, 737 through Dental Checkup and Awareness Camps, reached 1,365 with Gynecology camps, and 56,644 with Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Camps.

Health camps typically attract 500-2,000 people at a time. These events have two main objectives – provide necessary healthcare services and educate beneficiaries on preventive health measures to promote positive behavior change. 

With additional funding, we seek to expand health camps and hygiene efforts to the surrounding rural villages of the Marathwada region of Nanded and the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra.
