Help Us to Launch a Radio Program That Raises LifeSaving Awareness for Sickle Cell Children

By Elizabeth Elachi | Project Leader

Dear partners,

We are excited to share that our team is getting ready to launch a community radio program dedicated to sickle cell awareness across Northern Nigeria. Radio remains one of the most powerful tools for reaching families in rural and lowincome communities, especially where internet access is limited. Through this program, we will educate parents, caregivers, and community leaders about the prevalence of sickle cell disease, what it truly is, and how to support children living with the condition.

Many families still rely on myths, misinformation, or fear when dealing with sickle cell disease. This lack of knowledge leads to delayed treatment, stigmatization, and preventable deaths. Our radio program will provide clear, practical guidance on crisis prevention, hydration, early warning signs, nutrition, and when to seek urgent medical care. We will also highlight the courage of sickle cell warriors and share stories that inspire hope and reduce stigma.

Your donations make this possible. With your support, we can secure airtime, develop educational content, train presenters, and reach thousands of households every week. This program will empower families with knowledge that saves lives and strengthens our mission to keep 500 sickle cell children alive.

Thank you for helping us bring lifesaving information to the communities that need it most.
