Help Us to Keep Sickle Cell Children Hydrated With Safe Drinking Water

By Elizabeth Elachi | Project Leader

Dear partners,

Access to safe drinking water is essential for every child, but for children living with sickle cell disease, it is even more critical. Hydration helps keep their blood less viscous, reducing the likelihood of painful crises. In many communities across Northern Nigeria, families struggle to access clean water daily, especially during hot seasons when dehydration becomes more common.

When water is scarce or unsafe, sickle cell children often drink less than they need. This increases the frequency of pain episodes, fatigue, and emergency hospital visits. Some families rely on contaminated sources, exposing children to diarrheal diseases that can quickly destabilize their health.

Your support helps us provide hydration assistance and safewater access for sickle cell children. Donations help fund clean water supplies, oral rehydration salts, and community education on hydration during crisis seasons.

Thank you for helping us protect these children from avoidable complications.
