Healing Through Movement in Syria supports children, women, elderly people, and other vulnerable groups affected by conflict and displacement. The project provides movement-based psychosocial support sessions that help participants reduce stress, improve physical well-being, restore emotional balance, and rebuild a sense of safety and dignity, especially for families returning to their communities.
Years of conflict in Idlib have deeply scarred children, women, and the elderly. Many live with silent trauma, fear, and constant stress, struggling to feel safe again. With few mental health services available, returning families face their pain alone, risking longterm harm to their wellbeing and the future of their communities.
This project addresses the lack of accessible mental health services by offering movement-based psychosocial support that is safe, non-stigmatizing, and culturally appropriate. Through guided physical activities and group sessions, participants release stress, reconnect with their bodies, rebuild emotional balance, and regain a sense of safety, dignity, and social connection.
In the long term, this project will help build emotional resilience among children, women, and elderly people affected by conflict in Idlib. Participants will gain healthier coping mechanisms, improved wellbeing, and stronger social connections. By integrating movement-based psychosocial support into communities, the project contributes to sustainable mental health recovery, social cohesion, and a stronger foundation for longterm community healing and stability.
