Healing Strength for Kids with Cancer

In 2021, amid the uncertainty brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, Lupita Medrano arrived at AMANC San Luis Potosí from the municipality of Matehuala. She carried a diagnosis that would change her life and that of her family forever: acute lymphoblastic leukemia. From that moment on, Lupita began a long and challenging journey marked by intensive medical treatments, frequent hospital visits, and a resilience that grew stronger each day.

For several months, Lupita and her family stayed at the AMANC shelter, far from home, adapting to a new routine in which health and healing became the top priority. Throughout this process, Lupita showed remarkable courage. Despite medical tests, treatments, and uncertainty, she never lost her smile or her determination to move forward.

After years of perseverance and discipline, Lupita successfully completed her treatment in 2025. She is currently under medical surveillance, with a positive recovery that has allowed her to gradually return to her daily life. She went back to school, returned to her hometown, and began to reconnect with her dreams—among them, the aspiration to one day become a fashion designer.

Toward the end of 2025, as her treatment was nearing completion, AMANC and generous supporters came together to celebrate a milestone in Lupita’s life: her 15th birthday. It was a beautiful celebration, complete with a lovely dress, a generous banquet, and an atmosphere filled with joy, gratitude, and hope. More than a birthday party, it was a celebration of life itself and a tribute to Lupita’s strength and her family’s unwavering commitment.

Today, Lupita’s story reflects what is possible when timely medical care, comprehensive support, and community solidarity come together. Her journey continues, now guided by new goals and renewed possibilities, reminding us that behind every successful treatment there are dreams waiting to flourish—and a life worth celebrating.
