Progress So Far

By Bellinda Suleman | Public Relations Officer

Well, the year has been off to a great start for Healing Hands. Our Shelter is still in the process up being brought up to speed to make it habitable. Along with the donation of some furniture, appliances, tiles and volunteers to clean up the building, we have been able to get the space cleared nicely. Our only hampering at the moment is FUNDING to get the much needed renovations done so as the building can be habiotable. The electrical, plumbing, flooring and painting is in dire need of reconstruction. We still need expertise as well as material to get the building in a habitablke condition in terms of electrical, plumbing, flooring and painting. As soon as we are able to access funds to this effect we can continue with our vision of creating a HOME for those that are in dire need oif a roof over their heads.

The expected funds needed to complete this project is approximately $30 000.00. As soon as this is raised we will be able to complete this project.

We have also had some exciting news that Doctors Across Borders will be joining our Organisation and we will have a Doctor on hand. At present we have the Local Clinic Nurses that come every Monday to our existing shelter for GBV Victims  and also cater to the street dwellers, They do an exam as well as administer medication if necessary. This goes a long way toward easing the burdens of those who cannot access medical treatment.

We are still in arduous pursuit of bringing our shelter to reality and without the assistance from our generous sponsors we will not be able to realise this vision and assist those who are at present unable to assist themselves.
