Progress for Shelter for the Vulnerable

By Bellinda Suleman | Public Relations Officer

2022 has been a tough year but has brought some amazing results for us. Acquiring the building to bring the realisation of our shelter dream and bring hope to the vulnerable as well as provide shelter for the homeless is a few steps closer.

We have through the generosity of corporates, been sponsored furniture for the building to the value of R350 000. We have an alarm system insatalled as well as tiles for the floors. Three social workers have volunteered their services already. Also various community members have also sponsored their time to assist us in the clean up and set up of the building. With all of this we are still in need of more funding for the building to be fully operational and for us to be able to take in residents. We already have a waiting list and initial screening has been done for the people on the waiting list.

We are hoping, funding permitted to be operational by 1 March 2023. We have appealed to many organisations, corporates, the community within our Metro, as well as various social programmes within Port Elizabeth for assistance.
