Healing Burned Children of War in Ukraine

From April through September, our team continued supporting children with severe burns who were receiving treatment in Ukrainian hospitals.

During this reporting period, 8 children were provided with the medical supplies and other essential items needed for the treatment of severe burn injuries. These were very young patients: seven children, aged 2 to 7, suffered serious burns in household accidents, while one child was injured as a direct result of the war.

Among the children we supported was 7-year-old Kyrylo. On July 17, 2026, a Russian drone struck his family’s home in the Chernihiv region. Kyrylo suffered severe, extensive burns and required specialized treatment. His case is a painful reminder that Ukrainian children continue to suffer not only from everyday accidents, but also directly from Russia’s ongoing attacks.

For every child, burn treatment can be a long and difficult journey. Our organization helps ensure that children have access to the specialized medical supplies and other essential support they need throughout treatment and recovery.

We are very happy to share that 5 of the 8 children have already completed their hospital treatment and been discharged home to their families. Three children are still undergoing treatment, and we continue to support them as they recover.

Behind these numbers are eight children and eight families who have gone through an extremely difficult experience. For a small child, severe burns can mean painful procedures, surgeries, weeks or months in the hospital, and a long period of recovery. Timely access to appropriate burn care is therefore critically important.
