Healing Elders with Love

Project Progress Report & Appeal for Support

Project Budget: USD 25,000
Funds Raised So Far: USD 0
Current Phase: Preparation and resource mobilization
Project Focus: Elderly care, psychosocial support, dignity and social inclusion
Fundraising Platform: GlobalGiving

Introduction

Growing older should never mean growing invisible.

For many abandoned and vulnerable older people, loneliness is not simply the absence of company. It is the painful feeling of being forgotten by family, by society, and sometimes by the world around them.

Healing Elders with Love was created to respond to this reality with compassion, dignity and human connection. The project seeks to provide a holistic and family-like environment where abandoned senior citizens can receive emotional support, companionship and opportunities to feel valued and connected again.

Our approach begins with a simple principle: care must go beyond meeting physical needs. People also need to feel loved, listened to and remembered.

The Challenge We Are Addressing

Family structures are changing rapidly. Migration, economic pressures and the growth of nuclear families can leave older people separated from their relatives and traditional support networks.

At the same time, ageing often brings the loss of spouses, friends, mobility and independence. These changes can make social isolation increasingly severe.

For an abandoned elder, days can pass without a meaningful conversation, a visit or even a personal message.

The result is a silent form of suffering that can affect emotional well-being, confidence, dignity and overall quality of life.

Healing Elders with Love seeks to make sure that vulnerable older people are not left to face this reality alone.

Our Vision

We envision a community where every older person is treated with dignity and where no senior citizen feels forgotten or unwanted.

We want to create an environment that feels less like an institution and more like a family: a place where older people can talk, laugh, share memories, receive encouragement and know that somebody cares.

Our message to every elder is simple:

You are not forgotten. You still matter. You still belong.

Project Objectives

The project will work toward five key objectives:

  1. Restore dignity by ensuring that abandoned older people are treated with respect and compassion.
  2. Reduce loneliness and social isolation through regular human interaction and companionship.
  3. Strengthen emotional well-being through psychosocial support, listening and encouragement.
  4. Reconnect elders with their communities by creating opportunities for volunteers, learners and community members to interact with them.
  5. Promote a culture of caring by raising awareness about elderly abandonment and the responsibility of communities to protect and value older people.

Our Love-First Approach

The heart of this project is our love-first approach.

We believe that sometimes a small act of kindness can have a profound meaning for someone who has been forgotten.

A conversation can provide comfort.

A visit can restore hope.

A handwritten letter can remind someone that they are remembered.

A shared activity can bring back a sense of joy.

A listening ear can make someone feel valued again.

Through these simple but meaningful connections, we aim to create an environment where older people can regain confidence, dignity and a sense of belonging.

Current Progress

The project is currently in its preparation and resource-mobilization phase.

Our team is working to identify suitable trainers and learners who will participate in the implementation of the project. This preparation is important because we want to ensure that the people involved are adequately prepared to interact with vulnerable older people with compassion, respect and responsibility.

At this stage, the project has raised USD 0 toward its total goal of USD 25,000.

Although we have not yet secured the financial resources required for full implementation, we remain committed to the project and confident that, through partnership and collective support, the fundraising goal can be achieved.

Our collaboration with GlobalGiving represents an important opportunity to connect this initiative with an international community of people who care about vulnerable populations and believe in the dignity of older people.

Planned Activities

Once the necessary resources are secured, the project will implement activities centered on human connection and emotional well-being.

These will include:

  • psychosocial and emotional support;
  • companionship and social visits;
  • handwritten letters and messages of encouragement;
  • recreational and creative activities;
  • opportunities for elders to share their stories and experiences;
  • intergenerational activities;
  • community awareness and engagement;
  • training and preparation of participants;
  • monitoring, documentation and reporting of project progress.

Every activity will be designed around one central question:

How can we help this older person feel valued, respected and connected?

Expected Impact

The project aims to create meaningful changes in the lives of abandoned senior citizens.

We expect our intervention to contribute to:

  • reduced feelings of loneliness and abandonment;
  • improved emotional well-being;
  • stronger social relationships;
  • increased opportunities for meaningful interaction;
  • greater confidence and self-worth;
  • renewed feelings of dignity and belonging;
  • stronger community awareness about elderly abandonment.

Our success will not be measured only by the number of activities conducted.

It will also be measured by the moments that cannot easily be captured in statistics: an elder smiling after receiving a letter, sharing a story with a young person, looking forward to a visit, or simply saying, “Someone came to see me today.”

Responsible Use of Donor Funds

The total project requirement is USD 25,000.

Funds raised will support the core implementation of the project, including training and capacity building, activities for elderly beneficiaries, psychosocial and community support, awareness activities, essential coordination and operational needs, as well as monitoring and reporting.

We are committed to using donor contributions responsibly and maintaining transparent communication about project progress.

Every contribution will represent a responsibility to the people we seek to serve.

Why Your Support Matters

Today, the project has a USD 25,000 funding need, and we have raised USD 0 so far.

This means that we need partners who are willing to help us take the next step.

Your donation is more than money.

It can become a visit for someone who has not seen a familiar face in weeks.

It can become a letter that an elder keeps and reads again.

It can become an activity that brings laughter into an otherwise lonely day.

It can become a reminder that someone, somewhere, believes that their life still has value.

Your support can help turn abandonment into connection and loneliness into belonging.

Our Partnership with GlobalGiving

We sincerely thank GlobalGiving for providing an opportunity for this project to reach an international community of supporters.

For a project addressing a challenge that is often overlooked, access to a global network of donors can make a meaningful difference.

Through this collaboration, we hope to build a community of supporters who will not only contribute financially but also follow the journey of the project, share its message and stand with vulnerable older people.

We believe that, with the support of GlobalGiving and generous donors around the world, our USD 25,000 goal can become a reality.

Looking Ahead

Our immediate priorities are to complete the identification of trainers and learners, strengthen project preparation and mobilize the resources required to begin implementation.

The journey is only beginning.

We know that reaching the fundraising goal will require collective effort. But we also know that meaningful humanitarian change has always been built by people who are willing to care.

Our ambition is to create a sustainable approach to elderly support that can grow over time and reach more vulnerable older people.

A Call to Donors

Today, we are inviting individuals, families, foundations, businesses, community groups and organizations around the world to stand with us.

Help us reach USD 25,000.

Help us create a place where an abandoned elder can feel remembered.

Help us give older people an opportunity to speak, to laugh, to share, to participate and to feel loved.

Help us demonstrate that ageing does not mean losing one's value.

You can support this project by donating, sharing our GlobalGiving campaign, introducing it to your friends and colleagues, or simply helping us tell this story.

Every act of support brings us one step closer to our goal.

Our Gratitude

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who believes in this vision.

To our current and future donors: thank you for caring about people who are too often forgotten.

To the volunteers, trainers, learners and community members who will contribute their time and energy: thank you for choosing compassion.

And to GlobalGiving: thank you for helping create a bridge between this humanitarian initiative and people around the world who want to make a difference.

We are grateful for every person who joins this journey.

Conclusion

Healing Elders with Love is built on a simple truth: no one should be abandoned because they have grown old.

We cannot change every circumstance that has led an older person to experience abandonment.

But together, we can change what happens next.

We can offer companionship.

We can offer dignity.

We can offer hope.

We can offer love.

With a total project goal of USD 25,000, we are starting this journey with determination but without funds raised so far. Through our collaboration with GlobalGiving, we now have an opportunity to bring this vision to a global audience and invite people everywhere to become part of the solution.

Join us. Give what you can. Share the message. Stand with our elders.

Because sometimes the most powerful gift we can give another human being is the simple assurance:

“You have not been forgotten.”

Healing Elders with Love

Together, we can turn loneliness into connection, abandonment into belonging, and forgotten lives into lives surrounded by love.
