Our community school is in an ecological reserve in northeast Brazil and has been devastated by the impact of Covid. Many parents can no longer afford to eat, let alone pay school fees because the local economy (tourism), has almost completely closed down. On top of this, a major donor has had to suddenly withdraw funds leaving the school with a monthly budget deficit and many children without an adequate education.
This project will allow the school to continue operating during this crisis until we secure more sustainable funds.
This project will invest in creating its own source of funding and the digital literacy skills of the teaching staff. With these new skills in time we hope to create a high quality online space of learning and ensure every child has access.
