Hand Pumps for poor community in Pakistan

We are pleased to share the progress of our project "Hand Pumps for Persons with Disabilities for WASH", supported through the GlobalGiving platform. This initiative continues to transform the lives of persons with disabilities and their families by providing access to clean drinking water directly at their homes.

For many families living in rural Sindh, collecting water is a daily struggle. Persons with disabilities, elderly family members, and women often travel long distances to fetch water. Through your generous support, NDF Pakistan is helping vulnerable families gain safe and dignified access to water through household hand pumps.

Project Achievements

During this reporting period:

• 05 household hand pumps were installed in underserved communities.
• More than 175 family members benefited from improved access to water.
• Families with children and adults with disabilities now have water available within their household premises.
• Community awareness sessions were conducted on hygiene, handwashing, and safe water practices.
• Local community members were encouraged to support maintenance and sustainability of hand pumps.

Impact on Families

The installation of hand pumps has significantly reduced the physical burden of fetching water. Families report:

• Reduced travel time to collect drinking water.
• Improved health and hygiene practices.
• Greater independence for persons with disabilities.
• Increased dignity and safety for women and children.
• Better school attendance among children who previously spent time collecting water.
