Alice: thanks for giving interlocking machine!
Alice: thanks for giving interlocking machine!

This need is full funded!
Thanks for your generous gift to Give Blocks for Reconstruction: South Sudan project. Your commitment over the years and other donors to fund this need has been appreciated by our trustees, and the villages where Hope Ofiriha is serving.

The budget goal of $1000 has been achieved, and a new soil block machine has been purchased from Hydraform Ltd, South Africa. The project has 3 interlocking machines, one was donated by Rahula Trust (UK base charity), and Zambian University. We are informing you that this project will be marked as " funded", and will not be receiving donation any longer.

Thank you in advance for helping Hope Ofiriha to build schools! And thank you for helping South Sudan meet its building needs.

A modern school builds here!
A modern school builds here!

We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year 2013!

Thanks for your recent generous gift to Give Blocks for Reconstruction: South Sudan project. Your committed to help the needy to get out of poverty is really appreciated by our trustees and those will benefit most – the children!

With the two interlocking soil block machines donated two years ago, they are really helping the local communities. There is huge demand of their services so Hope Ofiriha finds it difficult to meet the growing needs. The project has received $719, but we still need $ 281 to reach the budget goal. This is a one-time cost; money donated toward this cause is in the restricted fund - bank account. Once a new unit is secured it will help increase our capacity to help many communities to stop their hunger for interlocking soil blocks.

The beneficiaries are eager to see this project progressing. They need your help to secure one soil block machine.

While our communities had just started to adjust from the shocks and devastation of prolonged civil war, they were yet met by airstrikes and ground assaults launched against South Sudan in the bordering states by Sudan armed forces and militant allies. This brought more unnecessary displacement, vulnerability, anguish and human suffering.

Life in the South Sudan – Sudan bordering states became unbearable as cost of living steadily skyrocketed. While two nations have signed a deal to promote peaceful coexistence, the impact of recent conflict include Abyei has caused humanitarian needs to the affected people.

We therefore, request our partners to continue their support to Hope Ofiriha and more importantly to the needy and vulnerable groups in the communities. We look forward to working with all of you in 2013.

May I take this opportunity to wish our donors and partners a Merry Christmas and very happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year 2013!

We still need “a Stabilized Soil Block machine” to build the newest nation Republic South Sudan.

The Soil Block press provides an answer to affordable housing, water storage and sanitation needs at Omilling.

The stabilized Soil Blocks (SSBs) are strong, economical blocks made from a mixture of sub-soil and a small quantity of cement. Almost any soil that contains clay and sand can be used to make between 90 and 150 SSBs per 50kg bag of cement.

The Technology Development and Advisory Unit at the University of Zambia has donated a hand-press interlocking soil block machine to Hope Ofiriha to build the Mario Primary School.

The Rahula Trust has also donated a hand –press interlocking soil machine three years ago. Their gift gave an education to children who have lost years of schooling due to African longest civil conflicts that gave birth to South Sudan Independence on July 9  – this was so great in several ways!

Hope Ofiriha looks forward in working with you until this project is completed. In the next three months a new update will posted to tell you how thing are pregressing from the ground.

Thanks for your generous gift to Give Better Blocks for Reconstruction in S. Sudan.

Your commitments to help the needy to get out of poverty are appreciated by our Team and those who will benefit most – the children!

Current donations are totaling $ 689 and we only need $ 315 to reach the goal. The beneficiaries are eager to see this project progressing.

The Zambian University and Rahula Trust (UK charity), have donated two interlocking soil block making machines. These machines were loaned out to the rural building projects in the County. The needs to set up permanent structures are rising daily after the peace agreement that gave birth to world newest nation: South Sudan. These machines offered new alternatives for building. They are cheaper, takes less time to build, eco-friendly, and only water is used to cure the blocks.

With the dispensary we built in 2009/2010 the interlocking blocks reduced the costs by 60%. Little mortar was used at the ring beam level, the walls built without mortar, and the construction was fast than expected. Our trustees agreed to phase out this project by the end of the year.

Until this project is fully funded we will be sending you quarterly field reports. You will get to know what your donation has helped impact and what we have achieved.

Thank you in advance for helping Hope Ofiriha to reach more people in Magwi

Thanks for your recent generous gift to: Give Better Blocks for Reconstruction South Sudan.

Your commitment to help the needy to get out of poverty is appreciated by our directors and those who will benefit most – the children!

Our partners have donated two soil interlocking block machines last year. These machines are making the blocks for building in Magwi county. South Sudan gained independence less than a year ago, there are needs for building in every community. The demand for the blocks cannot be met by only these two machines. We feel to add one more machine. In this, Hope Ofiriha can reach more people to build their villages.

Your donations are totaling $599 and we are not far from reaching the goal. The beneficiaries are eager to see this project progressing.

Until this project is fully funded we will be sending you quarterly field reports. You will get to know what your donation has helped impact and what we have achieved.

Thank you in advance for helping Hope Ofiriha to reach more people in Magwi county.
