The members of the Rotary Club of Ballymena are supporting a half marathon with funds raised being donated to Macmillan Cancer Support which provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer.
The services provided by MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT are essential in order to supplement core support provided by the National Health Service. The need for additional support is even more critical at a time when the Health Service is being severely challenged as a result of the ongoing Covid pandemic. Delays in treatment and disruption in the health service are having a real impact on those with cancer.
MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have, and campaigns for better cancer care. Services include information guidance appropriate to individual patients and, based on the type of cancer, identifies treatment options, financial advice and support, online support group and specialist cancer nurse support. These services are needed more than ever.
The potential long term impacts are immense as the support service allows individual patients to deal with many of the practical difficulties which a cancer diagnosis and ongoing treatment programme bring. MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT has a proven track record in this field and now forms an essential element of the overall campaign to manage the consequences of cancer diagnosis.
