We are thankful for your support on this project. I am writing to share some updates from ActionAid's emergency response in Haiti.
On May 2, 2024, more than 3,700 families in the Solino neighborhood of Port-au-Prince were forced to flee and abandon their homes due to ongoing gang violence. This situation is particularly devastating for women and children, who are at an increased risk of being exploited and are unable to access basic services.
ActionAid Haiti continues to support communities in building resilience. While the security situation in Port-au-Prince has had a significant impact on rural areas in terms of access to products, including fuel, ActionAid has assisted affected communities. "We have compensated 2,786 farmers who lost their crops because of floods and distributed some goats and short-cycle seeds to more than 1.651 families in the first quarter of 2024. 1,000 families, having received seeds and agroecological training in November 2023, are currently harvesting their crops," spoke Angeline, Country Director of ActionAid Haiti.
ActionAid remains committed to working with its local partners to respond to the crisis, helping communities to build their resilience and upheld their dignity. Now more than ever, your commitment makes a difference. Thank you for your support and solidarity.
