By IsraAID Staff | IsraAID Guatemala
IsraAID has worked in Guatemala since the eruption of the Fuego Volcano in 2018. From our initial emergency response in Escuintla, our presence expanded nationwide. Following Hurricanes Eta and Iota in November 2020, our operations transitioned to Alta Verapaz - particularly in the municipalities of Cobán, Chisec, and surrounding rural areas - and later, in 2024, to Esquipulas, Chiquimula.
Through our dedicated education; protection; water, sanitation and hygiene; and nutrition programs, IsraAID Guatemala has supported more than 50,000 people across over 150 communities, strengthening local preparedness and resilience in these extremely climate-vulnerable contexts. We are incredibly proud of the deep ties we have built and the lasting impact achieved alongside local communities.
At IsraAID, we build exit planning into our program design from the very start. Our goal is always to ensure that communities are fully equipped to sustain their own solutions long after our regular operations conclude. Thanks to the hard work of our local team, we are making a truly responsible exit, leaving these communities in a stronger, more resilient position. The local expertise and capacity developed over nearly a decade will continue to protect and empower families across Guatemala.
You have been a vital strategic partner in these efforts. We are forever grateful for your generous support and trust that made this life-changing work possible.
Thank you for walking hand in hand with us and the people of Guatemala.
