Christmas in GuVo!
Christmas in GuVo!

                     Happy Holidays from NAAF!

When the rainfall from Hurricane Rosa produced "unprecedented levels of flooding on the Tohono O’odham Nation (TON), particularly in the vicinity of the Menagers Dam Community," the community pulled together and provided help where help was needed. NAAF would like to express our gratitude to all of the volunteers who donated their time and services to help out after this devastating storm.

  • An incredible 119 volunteers
  • 89 TON employee volunteers
  • 56 homes, or approximately 70 individuals, were evacuated from the area by either GuVo District Administration, Red Cross, or personal vehicle
  • NAAF served a total of 95 meals to evacuees and volunteers
  • The Store, which is the only grocery center in the area, was able to provide water, food, and other supplies to evacuation centers

The Pia Oik Community now has its own After-School Program!

NAAF recently assisted Pia Oik Community in establishing their own after-school program! This new program runs Monday – Thursday from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. 15 students attend the program, which is run by 5 parent volunteers all trained by NAAF staff. The students are served a snack and enjoy arts & crafts and outdoor games.
