NAAF Newsletter - Spring 2019

By Jeremy Paxton | Director of Development

Spring is a beautiful time of year here in Southwest Arizona, and after a rare and beautiful snowstorm, things are heating up in GuVo! Check out what NAAF has been up to!

Interns

After an amazing year of working with interns for NAAF and The Store, we had a ceremony to celebrate all the great work they have done. We are grateful to our interns for all their hard work and wish them the best of luck with whatever they do next. We hope the skills they learned in the program will serve them well in the future! The new internships start this month, and we are looking forward to working with a new batch of bright young interns!

After-School Program

In collaboration with the Nation's Al Jek Recreation Center, NAAF has a total of 65 students enrolled in our After-School program. Pictured are NAAF's volunteers helping with homework, and kids having an Arts & Craft activity.

Toka

NAAF Board President  plays the traditional Tohono O'odham game Toka with some girls from the community. Similar to field hockey, Toka is an ancient game and is traditionally played by Tohono O'odham women and girls.

SNOW!!!

It's rare, but sometimes we do get some snow down here in Southwest Arizona. Thank you to NAAF's Director of Tribal Relations, who took this great picture of the mountains near Sells after the snow.
