Tai Chi classes begin in the Aquatic Therapy Center
By Stewart L. Bromberg | Executive Director, Cedar Village Foundation

This week, we began Tai Chi classesas part of our Aquatic Wellness Program in The Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati Aquatic Therapy Center. Every Tuesday morning from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., residents have the opportunity to take a Tai Chi class which focuses on muscle strengthening, balance, coordination, stretching and range of motion. The class is followed by an open swim time. Participants are able to use an automatic chair lift for easy entrance and exit from the pool.
One of the participants said, “I haven’t been able to go into a pool in such a long time. I definitely plan to be here every week!”
Our donors make it possible to have this type of programming available to seniors.

Cedar Village residents now have the opportunity to exercise in a state of the art complex to complement the Rehabilitation Center. The Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati Aquatic Therapy Center at Cedar Village includes a 50’ x 21’ warm water wellness pool for group exercise programs and therapy and two small warm water HydroWorx pools with a moveable floor with a treadmill for one-on-one therapy sessions.
Aquatic therapy offers substantial benefits not available with conventional treatments because water reduces the effects of gravity and allows patients to move with greater ease. It helps patients recover more quickly and with less pain than other treatments. Warm water therapy will facilitate the healing process for joint injuries and patients will benefit from the soothing warm water.
Your donation will be used for equipment that the therapists can use with their patients with aquatic therapy.

The entire Greater Cincinnati community is looking forward to the opening of Cedar Village’s Aquatic Therapy Center. After a delay in construction because of our cold winter, we will celebrate the grand opening in late October.
Our residents will have the opportunity to exercise in a state of the art complex to complement the Rehabilitation Center. Two small therapy pools and a larger warm water pool for group classes will be available for both inpatients and outpatients to use.
Warm water therapy will facilitate the healing process for joint injuries and patients will benefit from the soothing warm water.
Your donation will be used for equipment that the therapists can use with their patients and for bathing suits for patients who cannot afford them.
