Msingi Trust has worked to create safe spaces for community members to dream, converse and work together towards just communities. We now want to extend the safe spaces and create a haven for children where they can come to read, dream, nurture their curiosity, innovate and discover the world. To achieve this, phase one includes setting up of the resource centre where the Msingi Community Social and Innovation Hub will be housed
Dagoretti South faces high youth unemployment, limited access to reading materials, and inadequate safe spaces for children. Msingi plans to establish a Social and Innovation Hub with a homework center, youth training space, and community library. This hub will provide equitable access to information, social advocacy, and civic education. Many children lack parental support, with parents working late or dealing with substance abuse.
We will tackle unemployment in Dagoretti South through social entrepreneurship training, career mentorship, and upskilling, giving youth a competitive job market edge. Our project includes soft skills training, entrepreneurial guidance, and financial literacy to support youth enterprise creation. We'll enhance access to information with civic education for better community advocacy and provide a community library to improve literacy and promote reading culture.
1.Establish a social enterprise: This will provide employment for the youth and give Msingi necessary income to fund future activities 2.Influence and develop reading culture within the Dagoretti area. We are targeting an age group ranging from 5 years to 25 years. 3.Provide safe spaces for children and adolescents to study when outside school. 4.Encourage innovation and collaboration among youth by providing access to knowledge resources.
