One of the great ways growing a community hub is through kids holiday camps. 

This past December, the funds received through GlobalGiving partly supported the 3 day holiday camp that had us hosting about 120 children per day , Msingi Trust held a holiday camp for children under 18 years. The camp was located in Gachui, Dagoretti South Constituency, Nairobi County.

The 2-months long holiday break from school presented an excellent opportunity to engage them in various life skills training and mentorship. Many children around the area come from low income single parent households in areas plagued with alcoholism. We believe that regular camps and events designed for children work well to instill good morals and character to shape their lives trajectory.
This December 2024, our theme for the camp was ' Choices' based on biblical characters' choices and how their choices affected their lives.
On the 18th, we taught them about Abraham and the choices he made. On the 19th, we taught them about Samson and the choices he made. On the 20th, we taught on Mary the mother of Jesus and the story of Jesus heading to Christmas.
We engaged the help of volunteers during the sessions.
The holiday camp was successful by every measure. The children got to learn about the impact of life choices, and how to make the right choices in life. They had a great social interaction with peers not discounting the pleasure of food, games and fun activities for the three days.
We hope to consistently host holiday camps for the children in Dagoretti.
