Group Home(s) for Special Needs Taiwanese Children

Last year, the generous financial support from the GlobalGiving community and our local supporters enabled the Taiwan Love and Hope International Charity to establish an activity center that provided mental health and psychosocial support to children with special needs from low-income families. In 2023, the activity center was able to organize its first series of seminars and workshops that benefited children with special needs and their families. 

Eventually, the center started providing free English and music classes that are regularly attended by the children on Saturdays.

Our community is growing, with more mothers and grandmothers from disadvantaged backgrounds accompanying the children. And so, we also started providing free lunch prepared by staff members every Saturday, which is genuinely appreciated by everyone.

Last February, Taiwan welcomed the 2024 Chinese New Year, and for the first time, the Taiwan Love and Hope International Charity handed out traditional red envelopes with money inside to the children, their families, and staff members. In traditional Chinese culture, doing this is a sign of inviting year-long prosperity and good fortune. The Taiwan Love and Hope International Charity, even though it does not really have a lot of financial resources, just wanted to share its blessings to others in recognition and appreciation of how much it has also been blessed by other people's generosity. It was a memorable experience for everyone!

Now, the organization is busy with its line up of scheduled free parenting classes for 2024. 

We aim to continue taking care of our growing community and to be able to get to know each other on a more personal level. Our goal is to understand and eventually respond to the unique needs not only of the children but also of their families as well.
