Good day all,
Thank you for your contributions to our project Beeworks. Unfortunately, we've had a bit of a delay in implementing the project. The native stingless bees are being sourced from meliponiarists near Ribeirao Preto (in São Paulo state), a region that was hit pretty badly by wildfires in late August. Needless to say, the priority in the past few months has been saving and recovering the colonies that were ravished by the wildfires. With the colonies on the mend, the project can resume. Dr. Roberto Greco, local lead on the project, has met with a meliponiarist from the region who has agreed to mentor the Guapiruvú community in Vale do Ribeira (also in São Paulo state) on native beekeeping. Hives of jataí and droyana stingless bees will be delivered to the community in early January when the first lessons will begin.
Thanks, as always for your support, and we look forward to a productive 2025!
With gratitude,
Lev
