With the increasing number of environmental issues throughout the world, the time to act is now. For years, Green Cameroon has been working around the Southwest Region of Cameroon, sensitizing communities about the environment, devising new and friendly practices for farming, and making citizens aware of the importance of our Earth. The curriculum will sensitize future generations on various aspects of the environment including environmental degradation, conservation, preservation and more.
With issues such as global climate change and the many forms of environmental degradation becoming more and more prevalent, Green Cameroon is seeking to tackle this problem by teaching youth in Buea, Cameroon an environmental curriculum that will sensitize future generations on various aspects of the environment sustainable development, rural community livelihood and contemporary environmental issues and helps local community members to live better lives.
The curriculum will sensitize future generations on various aspects of the environment including environmental degradation, conservation, preservation and more. It has already been implemented at local secondary schools and we want to expand it to several orphanages in the area so that all of the youth are equip and ready to bring change for a sustainable future. By doing this, the youth will naturally be more environmentally conscious, aware and accountable.
One reason we have chosen to focus on educating the youth is so that the new mentality shift and overall awareness of environment impacts will be in the next generation who are taught and trained at a young age. The outreach has potential to reach a lot of youth in the region and even other parts of the county. The Buea Municipality is just over 200,000 citizens and Cameroon as a country is home to more than 20 million people.
