Riders for Health Nigeria, (Riders) is a not-for-profit organization with an unclouded vision of making sure that healthcare reaches everyone everywhere by focusing on the most neglected activity in the healthcare delivery value chain - 'transport'. Riders does this through the following activities; fleet management, training, sample transportation, health commodity distribution, warehousing, Advocacy, Communication, and Social Mobilization (ACSM).
Green Energy for Cold Cain Warehouse project is about powering our cold chain warehouse with green energy generated through solar systems. This is to give an uninterrupted energy supply to the warehouse to maintain the integrity of the vaccines and other temperature-sensitive commodities that are being kept in it. Secondly, to facilitate a reduction in carbon emission that is usually associated with the fossil fuel that is being used on electricity-generating engines.
The storage capacity of the cold chain warehouse is about fifty million doses which conservatively can serve the entire people of North Central and other neighboring regions of Nigeria.
However, this green energy project is yet to get support from any of the donors.
