Dear Donors and Friends,
What a busy few weeks! Our team has been working for several weeks on vaccination exercises throughout Kisumu West sub-county. But before I fill you in on the details, let me say thank you for your continued support. Your continued kindness and financial support - both big and small - makes our work possible. Without you, we would not be able to care for the elderly of Kenya.
COVID-19 was very serious in Kenya for the last few months leading to very long lines for vaccinations. In response to the great distances that many elderly had to travel for vaccinations, we partnered with local government agencies and HelpAge International to provide vaccination clinics in Kisumu West sub-county. Fortunately, our team finished updating the grounds of our care center back in April and May. This made for a great environment for our vaccine exercises.
To support our vaccination efforts, we launched a new GlobalGiving Project in September. The project was the cornerstone for our September Little x Little Campaign. Our vaccination clinic became a reality in mid-September. During the first week, we vaccinated approximately 70 seniors. Because our mission is to care for the elderly, we provided medical examinations, snacks, and PPEs to those who received vaccinations.Vaccinations (while supplies last) are now scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at our centre in Kisumu West Sub-County.
On October 1st, we celebrated the International Day of the Older Person. At our care centre in Kisumu west-subcounty, the day was filled with festivities from music, dancing, and of course, COVID-19 vaccinations.
Through the end of the year, our focus will continue to be on our vaccination efforts and improving our Kisumu West sub-county Care Centre for full-time, residential clients. In the meantime, I encourage you to consider making a reoccurring donation to AgeWatch Africa. Because we provide healthcare services, many of our expenses reoccur. Every month there is the need to train nurses and provide food, water, and medical supplies to our elderly clients. Recurring donations ensure that our elderly neighbors receive quality, uninterrupted care. Remember, even a few dollars every month can help provide clean drinking water or medical supplies like masks or soap to our clients.
On behalf of all of us at AgeWatch Africa – our incredible volunteers, Board of Directors, Advisory Board, and the elderly clients that we are humbled to serve -- thank you for your generous donations and your incredible support this year.
With much gratitude,
Richard Waindi, Founder & CEO
