Dear Friends,
We are happy to present our progress report of the project 'Goat for Livelihood support for Poor Women’ which started one year back by Azad India Foundation. We identify the potential women beneficiaries who have no financial support and give them goats to supplement their income.
We had given 1 pair of goats to Hamida from village Sathbolia, Block Pothia at the inception of the project. She is a divorcee deserted by her husband. She has three children without any steady source of income. She works as a landless labor during the time of the cultivation.
AIF team revisited her home after three months. Hamida has sold three out of her seven goats for Rs 3500 for the food supplies and to pay for her younger son’s medical treatment.
Maifunisa from the village Aambari, Block Pothia was also given one pair of goats. She also sold one more goat for Rs 1500 for her own medical treatment. She feels that these goats give her sense of security, as she has no other asset.
We need the funds to reach out to many more women like Hamida and Maifunnisa.
Donating now will enable us to purchase goats at a fair price and ensure that the women receive the best breed. Goats are bought locally as their chances of survival are highest in Kishanganj.
Warm Regards,
