We are happy to present our second progress report of the project 'Goat for Livelihood support for Poor Women’ which started six months back by Azad India Foundation. We identified the potential women beneficiaries who had no financial support. Finally we got funds through donations from GlobalFGiving and gave third set of goats to three women from marginalized families.
We have given goat to Nazira from village Koltha whose husband is seriously ill and cannot look after the family. She has 5 daughters and one son and work in the fields to support her family. Mafunisa from the village Arrabari is a widow who has no support system. She stays alone as her children have abandoned her.She does odd works which are barely sufficient for her.
Asma from the village Phoolbari stays with her husband who after having accident injured his back and now unable to work. The income from the goat will provide additional funds in the long run to the families.
We need the funds to reach out to many more women like Nazira, Mafunisa or Asma.
Donating now will enable us to purchase goats at a fair price and ensure that the women receive the best breed. Goats are bought locally as their chances of survival are highest in Kishanganj.
