Goat Farming for Burega Families

By Mutiheba Jean Bosco | Project Leader

Dear Patron,

RWAYDAVO is helping 200 families in Burega Village, Rwanda, through a community-led goat farming project. The community identified key challenges:

  • Poor soil fertility

  • Lack of organic manure

  • Low crop yields

  • Malnutrition in children and mothers

  • Limited income opportunities

  • Poverty

Goat farming is a sustainable solution that can improve nutrition, income, and soil health.

Goal: $10,000
Remaining: $10,000
Donors: 0
Duration: 3 years

Challenges
Burega Village suffers from food insecurity and poor soil. Families lack:

  • Better farming methods

  • Organic manure

  • Nutritious food

  • Income from livestock

Without support, families remain in a cycle of low harvests, poor nutrition, and poverty.

Our Solution
This project will:

  1. Give Goats to 200 Families – Each family receives a goat for manure, milk, and income.

  2. Improve Soil – Goat manure enriches the soil naturally.

  3. Support Nutrition – Milk improves diets for children and mothers.

  4. Increase Income – Families can sell goats, milk, and manure.

  5. Share Knowledge – Families learn animal care, soil management, and sustainable farming.

Offspring from goats will be shared with other families, spreading benefits in the community.

Impact

  • Better Living: More food, better nutrition, new income sources.

  • Community Resilience: Families can recover economically.

  • Recognize Local Knowledge: Strengthens traditional farming practices.

  • Long-Term Benefits: Goats reproduce quickly, helping new families over time.
