Dear Go Girl supporter,
time flies when you are busy working with girls! We have put together some highlights from our various teams to make you part of what we have been up to in the last 3 months.
CAMEROON
The team from Cho Ngofor works with girls on teenage pregnancy and menstrual hygiene in schools and communities in Mbengwi / Bamenda North West Province. There has been a shift in the organisation's approach after introduction to SALT way of working.
They have now started doing their activities based very much on ideology of SALT. They did not just give as they used to give. 80% of was what children gave and 20% what the team brought in. It made the activities very light.
They worked with two groups. Each of the groups had a crowd of about 100 children. We were able to implement 2 activities in a one day with the primary and secondary children. We met the head teachers, had conversations with the school upfront, community was able to accept us.
INDONESIA
The Indocompetence team participated in a global event: ABCD Unconference.
In preparation of the event the IndoCompetence Go Girl team revisited the community where they contributed to breaking the taboo on child pregnancy and sexual health.
KENYA
One of the many activities L'Afrikana Cho team embarked on was the community dreambuilding and sharing of concerns with the teen moms in Kibera. Here they found that male inclusion is key in addressing some of the concerns when it comes to teen pregnancy,
GHANA
The Go Girl Ghana team embarked on community health talks to speak about family planning and reproductive health. It was clear to the team that there were a lot of questions and wrong assumptions on the subject. There was great feedback on the meeting and both communities have requested GGG to return to go deeper into the matter. Aside this, the team has successfully brought 2 girls back to school after dropping out from JHS because of pregnancy. They are extremely proud of the parents who, after some coaching from the mother club meeting they host, took it upon themselves to support their children.
We are close to finalising our project together. We want to thank you all for your support. We would not be able to help these girls without you.
Many thanks,
Go Girl Worldwide
