Final Report

Philippines

In 2019, Pitch In For Baseball & Softball served 94,000 children through more than 630 projects in 43 states in the United States and 25 different countries worldwide.  These donations included nearly 100,000 pieces of equipment and 14,000 baseball and softball gloves, giving children around the globe an opportunity to play ball with proper, safe equipment.

Some highlight projects include:

  • Philippines - PIFBS has worked with Philippines Little League since 2017 to help equip the nearly 20,000 children in their program with proper, safe equipment to play ball.  Baseball and softball are used as vehicles for conflict resolution, providing children with constructive outlets for play and free time and help to bring together the community.
  • Horsham Challenger Division - PIFBS supported a local league that helps to bring baseball and softball to children and young adults with physical and intellectual challenges.  PIFBS was able to provide adaptive equipment to help meet the needs of kids in their program, including gloves.

IMPACT STORIES:

  • Minneapolis, MN --- When Johnathan arrived at the first baseball meeting held by coaches during the schoolyear, he had never picked up a ball or glove before.  His high school Henry Senior High received a PIFBS equipment grant and as a result, Johnathan received his his very first glove.  He showed discipline and hard work throughout the season and was chosen as Most Improved Player by his teammates and coaches.
  • At age 13, Alon relocated from the United States to Israel.  Due to the lack of popularity of the sport in Israel, basic baseball equipment is difficult to acquire as it is not widely sold.  Alon was thrilled when Israel Association of Baseball was the recipient of an equipment grant from PIFBS and he was able to utilize quality equipment that he was familiar with.  Alon's talent was quickly identified and he was invited to join the 14U Israel National Team.
