Dear Friends and Family,
We have had an incredibly full semester in GlobeMed this fall! Most notably, we bought in Paul Farmer to talk about his work in empowering communities, which drew in a crowd of over 1,000 people! We also broke our fall semester fundraising goal by raising almost $4,000 from our six campaigns. From selling ugly holiday sweaters to holding our first “Fall Fest” themed food sale, we have seen a huge success for our fundraising goal. Our new members started off their GlobeMed experience strong by running a new event called “Fall Fest for Progress”, which sold caramel dipped apples and pies to our campus. We also partnered with a few businesses in St. Louis to host benefit nights, and had a lot fun participating in the events.
This semester also marked the beginning of our new partnership with Beyond Housing in St. Louis! We enjoyed spending our weekends volunteering at their community garden and getting to know the staff. We are incredibly excited to see how this partnership develops over time.
Finally, we hosted a number of panels and discussions related to global health to further our understanding of the movement. One highlight of this education was our weekend long conference exploring the topic of accessible health in St. Louis. This weekend began with the incredible talk from Paul Farmer!
The staff members of GlobeMed at Washington University in St. Louis and of Uganda Development and Health Associates are so grateful for your help in this past year. Without you, we would not be able to achieve our goals and make such concrete differences in people’s lives. We thank you sincerely for your continued support.
In Solidarity,
GlobeMed at Washington University in St. Louis
