St. Boniface Haiti Foundation is establishing a surgical program that will set a new standard of surgical care for Haiti's South. On the southern peninsula of Haiti, home to two million people, too many have no access to life-saving surgical services. SBHF is committed to providing safe, quality healthcare to the most vulnerable, and this includes providing increased access to surgical services. SBHF aims to provide high quality health and surgical care for all, regardless of ability to pay.
Imagine a child dying because he couldn't have his appendix removed, or losing a mother's life because no Caesarian section can be performed. An estimated five of the world's seven billion people cannot access safe, affordable surgery, with devastating consequences to their health, livelihoods, and families. Haiti is among those countries most suffering from the lack of surgical services. With your help, SBHF will change this grim reality.
The surgical program will enable St. Boniface Hospital to substantially expand access to a range of surgical services for people in our region, as well as train Haitian health professionals to be tomorrow's surgeons, serving their families, communities, and country.
Within the next year, SBHF will have the capacity to provide over 2,000 life-saving surgeries per year to some of Haiti's most vulnerable population, including the rural poor who have no other option. These surgeries will save lives, get individuals back on their feet, and improve their livelihoods. Through the training program, we will also train the next generation of in-country surgeons who will be the future of sustainable healthcare in Haiti.
