Kibera Slum is the largest in Africa: half of the population are children under 18. Most live without clean water, sanitation, schooling, medical care & only one meal per day. Education (particularly for young girls and orphans) is rare in Kibera. Education is the strongest predictor of intellectual, mental-emotional, and physical well-being. Our Project Goal is to build a (new, safe, green, and permanent) school for 1,000 children holistically educated. Together we can do this.
Kibera is Africa's largest urban slum, home to approx. 1-million (living on less than $2.50 per day). Many are refugees displaced from rural areas who are unable to afford housing costs elsewhere. Half the population is under the age of 18 years old and 50% of school-going-age children are unable to read and write as a result. Girls are particularly vulnerable to early pregnancy, child labor, and prostitution. Our three successful schools in Kibera demonstrate the effectiveness of our work.
Global One Foundation helps alleviate extreme poverty and meet education resources. We solve the problem with the most researched and linked variable: early and adolescent education. We provide chartered education with a holistic focus on well-being: 2 meals per day, clean water, meditation. We aim to turn dreams into reality. Our curriculum and staff focus on wellness, cognitive and emotional development within the context of sustainable energy and the clean environments of our schools.
Global One Foundation's existing schools in Kibera have a proven track record demonstrative of a two to three generational impact over 7 years since founding in 2012. Over 600 children have now enrolled which means hundreds of families have been influenced for the next several generations. The long-term impact of an additional school with an enrollment capacity of 1,000 children means a similar effect will be in place on several more thousand families. Life/work opportunities rise exponentially.
