Clean Water is Essential

By Brian | Kenya Lead

Dear Supporters,

We are thrilled to provide an update on the progress of our Rainwater Harvesting and Sanitation Project, an initiative that has already begun to make significant strides in improving access to clean, safe water in rural communities across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The Challenge: A World Without Safe Water

As we shared in our previous report, over 9.9 million people are still drinking contaminated water, and 40% of the population in some areas have to walk hours to access basic water supplies. In many rural communities, access to water is either limited or non-existent, leaving people at risk of waterborne diseases and poor sanitation. This lack of clean water leads to widespread illness, low hygiene standards, and missed opportunities for education and growth, especially in schools and healthcare centers that often operate without safe water systems.

The Solution: Harnessing Rainwater for Safe Drinking Water

We are excited to share that thanks to your generous donations, we are making real progress in providing sustainable water solutions. Rainwater harvesting is proving to be an effective and reliable method for sourcing drinking water. By installing rainwater tanks and filtration systems, we are enabling communities to collect and store rainwater for safe use. This solution is not only accessible but also 100% sustainable, utilizing natural resources that are abundant in most areas.

What We’ve Accomplished So Far:

  • Successful Installations: We’ve installed rainwater collection systems in several communities, ensuring a reliable water supply for households, schools, and healthcare centers.
  • Community Engagement: Awareness campaigns have been conducted, educating local populations on the importance of good hygiene practices and how to maintain the water systems. This has led to an increase in community participation and self-reliance.
  • Improved Water Access: Access to clean, filtered drinking water is now a reality in many areas where water was previously unsafe or inaccessible.

Long-Term Impact:

The long-term impact of this project is significant and life-changing. With your continued support, we will ensure that:

  • Communities have access to safe, reliable drinking water year-round: Rainwater harvesting systems will provide a continuous, sustainable water source for homes, schools, and healthcare centers.
  • Hygiene practices improve, reducing the spread of waterborne diseases and improving overall health and well-being.
  • Water scarcity is mitigated, especially during dry seasons, when communities are most vulnerable.

Since 2011, our efforts have led to a dramatic increase in water access across several regions. The ongoing support from our donors has been instrumental in helping us move forward with these initiatives, and we are more committed than ever to expanding this project.

Looking Ahead: The Bigger Picture

While we’ve made significant progress in some areas, we know there’s still much work to be done. We are committed to expanding our reach to ensure that every community has access to the water and sanitation facilities they need. The next phase of the project will focus on scaling up installations, creating stronger local water management systems, and ensuring that even the most remote areas can access clean water.

Our goal is clear: We want to bring safe drinking water to every community we serve, making it possible for people to thrive with proper sanitation, health, and hygiene. With your help, we know we can achieve this vision.

Your Support Makes a Difference

Every donation, no matter the size, helps us take one step closer to making clean water accessible to those who need it most. We remain deeply grateful for your continued support, and together, we will ensure that this project grows, reaches more communities, and creates lasting impact.

Thank you for being part of the solution.

Let’s continue to make clean water a reality for all!
