Hello and happy holidays!

Hopefully you made it through all the shopping madness of Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday. Whew! I for one feel like I did a lot more running around than actually accomplishing the things on my list:) December turns into the busiest month of the year for me no matter what I do to circumvent it. I’m driven to do more and work harder because with all the to-do’s on my list, the girls we haven’t reached yet are at the very top, and the best gift I can give to them is to reach-out to people like you who care, and ask them to join us in creating a movement towards equality and all the good that comes from achieving that.

So with all of my running around, thinking about our girls and our awesome donors, it got me wondering how we could make this season easier on our community of supporters. How can I help them sit back and accomplish a couple of cool things at the same time? So we went shopping for you and we come bearing gifts! Wrapped in pretty pink tissue and ready to re-gift or keep for your-self:)

October 11th is Day of the Girl

Future Leader

October 11, was International Day of the Girl. This awareness filled day spurred worldwide engagement to better the lives of girls and provide opportunities for them to be leaders and to reach their full potential. The truth however is that one day isn't enough to close the gap, but it's never too late or too little to uplift a girl, vastly improve her life and the quality of her community with your support. Global Sorority does this sustainably by meeting the girl wherever she is and supports her inner leader and self-development to better handle life’s hurdles. The greatest advancement for girls in recent years has been the push for formal education, opening up a new world of opportunities. The reality though is that many girls will drop out of school, or never have a chance to go at all and many girls will be forced to marry far too young. Because there are girls who are still denied these dignities and resources, it doesn't mean they are a lost cause. Not everything can be hitched to formal education. In a perfect world all girls would go to school, in the current world, girls need every bit of strength they can muster from within themselves and that's where our internal leadership programs meet them.

Our effort to sustainably support girls and their communities despite their level of education or socioeconomics is ongoing, along with helping other organizations working with young women locally and globally. We plan to partner with grass roots organizations in Vietnam and the Philippines that are deeply connected to their own communities so they can ensure the continued success of our training.

We are pushing for the day when "Day Of The Girl" isn't an awareness campaign around the suffering and inequality that the girl child is subject to, but rather a day that’s a celebration of the great will-be-leaders, teachers healers, scientists and peace makers or our future.
