Challenge

It's no secret that young women need support to gain greater equality in the world. Much has improved in the way of formal education for girls, but with high rates of HIV/ AIDS, teen pregnancies and violence against women, something more needs to be done. Global Sorority's leadership development program fills the gap between a basic education and girls having the tools and confidence necessary in themselves and in their abilities to make positive strides in their communities.

Solution

This project will touch the lives of those we work with and thousands more who will witness and partake in our facilitated discussion and film screenings. Global Sorority is a movement with a simple formula to create mass change: We provide leadership training to support confidence in young women, the resources to learn, and a platform to share ideas. We want to start a global discussion around positive solutions for girls, by providing a structure for girls to live out their full potential.

Long-Term Impact

-Over 120 young women between the ages of 11-25 will receive life changing leadership development training, sustainable menstrual pads and an opportunity to have their voices heard and celebrated. -Our educational films will be used to create life long learning across North America -The online platform will provide the supportive community that girls and young women need to succeed - Each person who participates in our film screenings will have a deeper awareness of the issues and solutions.
