GIVING THANKS FROM GLOBALGIRL!

By Amie Williams | Executive Director

Chicago Sisters Jari and Jdoria, GlobalGirl Report
Chicago Sisters Jari and Jdoria, GlobalGirl Report

The Girls of GlobalGirl Media Los Angeles and Chicago have been working on their webisodes series and all of their hard work is finally coming to fruition! We have produced two new web series; one entitled "Food Forward" features the Globalgirls of L.A. tackling the issues of food injustice, such as access to healthy food, fresh produce and food deserts. The other series, titled "Bridges For A Better Chicago," follows Chicago's GlobalGirls as they witness and address the economic disparities on the streets of the Windy City.

GlobalGirl Media would also like to congratulate GlobalGirl Rocio Ortega for winning Nickelodeon’s Halo Award. As a recipient of this pretigous award, Rocio has been recognized as a diligent teen working ”to make the world a better place," which GGM can surely attest to. As part of this award, GGMN receives $10K towards its work in Los Angeles, and Rocio gets paired with Chris Paul of the L.A. Clippers, who founded the CP3 Foundation, a philanthropic partnership with The Winston-Salem Foundation that strives to impact the communities it services by using its resources and passion for philanthropy to enhance and promote education, health, sports and social responsibility for youth and families.

It has been an honor to be partnered with this wonderful young woman, and we commend you Rocio on your bravery and desire to have your voice be heard, and as Nickelodeon simply states, you have truly demonstrated that you "don't have to be an adult to make a change." To watch Rocio receive her award and hear about her time with GlobalGirl Media, tune in this November on http://www.teennick.com/shows/halo-awards
Way to go Rocio!

And what better way to mark Thanksgiving than on Nov. 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. To commemorate this day of change, GlobalGirls of Morocco will be hosting a live streaming event of in Casablanca of a 30-minute documentary that focuses on the harsh violence directed towards women as they walk the streets of Morocco. Titled BREAKING THE SILENCE: Moroccans Speak Out, you can follow all the activity about this on oury Facebook Page, where we will announce the livestream URL the day before.
