Global Care Force’s volunteer medical teams continue to deliver essential healthcare services in de-occupied and frontline regions of Ukraine. We deployed our 34th volunteer team in December to continue to provide compassionate, skilled care to patients in need.
Between October and December, our teams provided care to more than 1,100 patients across multiple villages and refugee camps. Our commitment to continuity of care remains unwavering. As the war enters its fourth year and access to medical services remains limited, our skilled medical professionals continue to reach individuals who might otherwise receive no care at all—delivering not only essential treatment, but also hope to families living on the front lines.
At 18, Vladimir went to war alongside his friends. Months later, during an examination at one of our clinics, he quietly lowered his sweatpants to reveal deep, unhealed scars where a heavy object had crushed his leg during a strike on the front lines. He had been sent home to recover under his mother’s care. In a voice barely above a whisper, he shared, “I have dark thoughts. The pain and the flashbacks. I’m now a burden to my mother.” When asked if he had friends he could talk to, he lowered his eyes and replied, “They’re all dead.”
“The air seemed to leave the room,” recalled Eileen, one of our volunteers. “I wanted to put my arms around him—to hold him and absorb some of his grief.”
After Vladimir left, his mother returned to the clinic. “He is only 19,” she said. “He should be playing video games, not deciding whether he wants to live.” Eileen often thinks about Vladimir and prays that he and his mother find comfort and healing.
Looking ahead, Global Care Force will continue to expand its impact in Ukraine by sustaining this model of reliable, compassionate care—one that strengthens both health outcomes and human connection. In 2026, we are planning 12 volunteer team deployments to Ukraine.
