Dear donor,
I'm delighted to share some exciting news. This week, on International Women's Day, the President of India awarded Breakthrough the Nari Shakti Puraskar. The award recognized Breakthrough's outstanding contributions to research and development in the field of women's empowerment. It included a cash prize of INR 200,000.
Sonali Khan, our Vice President and India Country Director, accepted the award from President Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Hosted by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, these prestigious awards were given to seven institutions and fifteen individuals for their leadership in women's rights.
Breakthrough has often partnered with the Indian government at the state and national levels to maximize the reach of our campaigns addressing domestic violence, sexual harassment, and the unequal sex ratio. This prize shows the value of this work–and that the day is coming when our combined efforts will make violence against women and girls unacceptable in all its forms. We could not have earned this award without your partnership and the incredible commitment of all those inspired to make change.
Thank you!
Warmly,
Jocelyn
