Dear Donor,
In the months of September and October what we emphasised on, apart from doing our classroom sessions in a different way, was Streelink Video Van. There was a big success story on in our project area where birth of a GIRL child was celebrated with the help of our “ LEGION OF STARS”,
1) LEGION OF STARS- TAARON KI TOLI(TKT)) Stars celebrated girl child birth in the community
We are working with TkT stars since last 5 years on Gender Based Discrimination. There are various milestones in this journey and many change stories as students started to learn various forms of Gender Based Discrimination. Girls are considered as burden and boys are welcomed with great cheer, when a girl child takes birth there is huge silence as they are unwanted and unwelcome in society. But our TkT stars are acknowledging this discrimination and are raising voice against it.
It is easy to preach but difficult to make change in our own home. In Rajakheri village of Panipat district, one of TkT stars got a baby girl in his elder brother family, he decided to celebrate the birth but his family was against it. He insisted and tried to convince his family. He faced anger of other family members but at last he succeeded to convince them.
On 28th October Sunday at 2pm, he mobilized TkT stars to celebrate girl child birth in the community in which our TkT stars performed street play and songs on value of girl child on. Breakthrough team was also invited in this celebration. College volunteers also supported in the event. Probono support was given by tent house in this social cause.
2) StreeLink Video Van, Faridabad
In StreeLink project, this month we organized community mobilization events using video van- to address the different forms of violence and stigma for women and girls specially with working women. We used Songs, films, Street theatre as a tool to convey our messaging and create a dialogue around building safe space for women and girls work force and all fields. This was organized through a 10 days long campaign (13-22 September 2018) in 3 intervention communities reaching 24 sports. DLSA advocates also joined us to inform and link with services for legal process and legal help during the events at all spots. We reached out to 6500 community people through this campaign. At each show, number of women and men shared their view about the ongoing narrative of violence against women and girls. People from the community shared various incidents and concern related to sexual harassment in public place and domestic violence and lack of services to approach to deal with it and support system in community.

We hope that these updates help you understand our work better and we look forward to your continuous support to make our dream a reality.
Thanks and Regards,
