We all want children to become readers, but without books its not possible. By giving books to children whose school has burned down, will give them such a positive boost and an idea that there is a better world out there. The project we are proposing is to support 18 under-resourced Schools with 200 books in 2017. At least 6015 children from Vuwani will benefit from this donation. We get letters daily from disadvantaged a areas asking of books from us for books. We buy African books in bulk.
In May this year, communities from a cluster of villages surrounding Vuwani in Limpopo went on the rampage following a failed legal attempt to reverse the new demarcation boundaries approved by the Municipal Demarcation Board. This resulted in a total of 26 schools being torched and a further 79 schools being damaged. The 18 primary schools lost everything, no storybooks is currently available.
Biblionef has made contact with the National Educational Collaboration Trust and have offered to supply books to the 18 Primary Schools who are again operational, but lack essential learning resources for their learners. Biblionef would like to support these schools with a donation of 200 new storybooks in the learner's home languages of Tshivenda and Xitsonga and in English to further develop their reading ability.
The children will have the pleasure of reading at the disposal . the books will benefit them emotionally after being traumatised with the fires at their school. The teachers will be able to do regular story- reading .The positive stories will give the children hope for the future again. Teachers will have resources to teach reading again. .These children will have the books they need to experience this Magic. . They will enjoy books in their local languages , Tsonga and Venda.
